HIGH POINT UNIVERSITY FINE ARTS CENTER – When High Point University was planning their new fine arts center, a new organ was proposed. A Donor stepped forward and expressed a desire to have a 4 manual 87-Stop organ in the new center. Because the sound chambers are located in front of the stage, special movable stage speakers provide sound for performers on stage. Pipe facades were installed on both sides of the auditorium in openings on the second and third floor balconies.

WINSTON SALEM’S SALEMTOWN – Nestled in Northwest Winston Salem is the Moravian Retirement Community of Salemtown. Architects planned for new residential facilities and a multipurpose center for fellowship and worship. One of the residents, a retired teacher and organist, along with his wife, endowed the new facility with an 80-Stop Organ. Even with soft vinyl wall-covering, reverberation in the room is excellent.

KINGSWOOD UNITED METHODIST CHURCH – In the last few years, the church’s 30 year old organ had been plagued with problems. The organist, who had played Allen Organs in other churches, asked the music director to listen to one. After over a year of fund-raising, a new 53-Stop organ was installed. The instrument features a 100 Voice MIDI Division, and a Digital Sequencer that allows for recording and playback of musical selections.

WINSTON SALEM’S FIRST PENTECOSTAL – First Pentecostal Church purchased a new Allen Organ in 1970. When the congregation voted to do a total renovation of the sanctuary, the organist started a drive to replace the old organ with a new one. A new 35 stop organ was installed. It included a 100 Voice MIDI Division, Digital Sequencer, and a Kurzweil Sound Module.

HIGH POINT’S OAKVIEW UNITED METHODIST – Lightning decided to play a visit to Oakview United Methodist Church one afternoon. The organ was damaged beyond economical repair. With replacement value insurance, the church purchased a 34-Stop organ that is able to support both the traditional and contemporary worship services offered at Oakview.

ASHEBORO’S PUGH FUNERAL SERVICE – After moving into new facilities a few years ago, the directors at Pugh Funeral service desired a new organ and piano for their chapel. A new 29-Stop Organ and a studio piano were installed. Attention was given to special speakers strategically placed above the podium for accompanying soloists. The main speakers are placed in a chamber that is above and in front of the podium. This allows for maximum sound projection to the chapel.

GREENSBORO’S HOLY TRINITY EPISCOPAL – In 1999, the church organist started investigating the many possibilities for a new organ. After hearing the Allen Renaissance Organ, he recommended that a 44-Stop Organ be installed in the chapel. He was so impressed that he recommended that the church’s pipe organ be augmented to include some new digital ranks. In 2000, a contract was signed to build a totally new custom Allen Organ Console with 76 Digital Ranks that would be installed alongside 33 of the best pipe ranks from their original pipe instrument. The end result is a very flexible instrument that enhances congregational singing, and allows the playing of all music from baroque to classical, romantic, and contemporary.

MEBANE’S HAWFIELDS PRESBYTERIAN – Historic Hawfield’s Presbyterian was in the process of renovating their sanctuary. Some members wanted a small pipe instrument. Their organist helped them choose a new instrument that would be flexible enough to accompany congregational singing, and playing all service music. A 35-Stop organ with a 100-Voice MIDI Division and Digital Sequencer was installed.

GREENSBORO’S TRINITY AME ZION – Trinity AME Zion Church selected a committee to investigate the possibility of a new sanctuary instrument. Their previous Allen Organ was installed in 1970. Their organist was a very accomplished musician with music degrees from several colleges and universities. She, and the committee, recommended a 40-Stop Three-Manual Allen be installed. The organ sound in the sanctuary is very full.

GREENSBORO’S SEDGEFIELD PRESBYTERIAN – Sedgefield Presbyterian built a new sanctuary in 1996 with the vision of having a new pipe instrument that would speak from the balcony. A donor expressed a desire to endow such an instrument. However, a proper size pipe instrument was too costly. The organist recommended a digital/pipe instrument. The donor agreed and a new 56-Stop Allen Organ, along with a pipe addition provided by Austin Organ Company, was installed in the church balcony. The enclosure was built by one of the church members who is also their church architect. The organist was so pleased that he purchased and donated a 100-Voice MIDI Division that was installed on the organ.
